Searching in Sorter by Group with Comma in Name

I routinely use the menu bar sorter to quickly locate a Group.

Many of my groups are created with the format:

Last Name, First Name

Sometimes I want to search only by first name but I cannot figure out how to do that - the comma seems to impact the ability to search by first name only.

For example if I am searching for John Doe I can search for

d,john

And that works fine

But none of these work

john
*john
*,john

Is there a way to search if only the first name is known?

I created the groups John Doe and Doe, John and both were found by this search term and also by e.g. Jon.

Wildcards aren’t supported, the Sorter and e.g. the Go To popovers use fuzzy matching.

The search worked from the search bar but not from the sorter, correct?

Why does a fuzzy search in the sorter not find the first name alone?

I used the Sorter.

OK I see - it sometimes works depending on the name - it must be related to the fuzzy search logic.
