I am a long time Evernote user switching to DEVONthink. Is there any way to share notes or groups? I sometimes have a collection of PDF’s or notes that I would like to share with a coworker. In Evernote I would share the note and attachments via an Evernote Shared Note url. I can also do the something similar in Apple Notes. Is there a way for me to do something similar in DEVONthink?
Not in the same way. Evernote and Apple Notes are stored on the cloud so the URL points to a commonly accessible location. We sell software, not services so there’s no intermediary server between you and your friend.
If they were running DEVONthink on a Mac, you could share a database via our Sync plugin.
If you stored some data in Dropbox, you could share via a link as you’d normally do with it. You could also have indexed that data into a DEVONthink database, leaving the original files in Dropbox for sharing but able to leverage DEVONthink’s AI and search capapbilities.
Or you could simply Share the acutal document, NOT a URL.
If you have DEVONthink Pro Office edition then you can use DEVONthink’s Server to expose your database(s) on your local LAN or, if you know how to set up secure access to your machine via your computer, firewall and router settings, then share on the internet.
