Shortcut “Add URL to DEVONthink [and DEVONthink To Go] Reading List”

Sometimes I want to add a web page URL to DEVONthink or DEVONthink To Go’s Reading List without clipping the bookmark into any particular database, including the Global Inbox. This shortcut tries to do just that when sharing a URL via the macOS, iOS, or iPadOS share sheet.

On the Mac It uses a snippet of embedded AppleScript, and elsewhere it uses DEVONthink To Go’s createbookmark URL command. In both cases, it retrieves the web page title, allows you to make any changes, then titles the resulting bookmark.

I welcome comments and suggestions for improvements, and especially revisions to the shortcut implementing those improvements.

What’s the issue with capturing a bookmark?

I often want to save something to read exactly once without taking the extra step to select a destination database or group and then tracking it down to remove afterward. I know the Reading List is technically stored in the Global Inbox, but the latter is for things I want to keep. The Reading List is for temporary items.
