I have a need to create connections from a DT database to external files and folders .. essentially bookmarks but to local files on the computers or files on an SMB share.
I DONT want to use DT externals/indexing as this involves DT also adding these files to the sync store, and most of the external files are large video files that I really dont want to end up in the syncstore.
I’ve been looking at using “.fileloc” files as bookmarks inside the database, which DT can store and even create in Finder, via a service, but I cant get these to work on SMB files (even via hacking the XML to use paths to the CMD share).
Does DT have any way to do a simple (non-indexes) link to a file or folder ? I could just shove text paths in an RTF file, but something I could click on within DT to open the file (e.g. in Finder) would be much nicer.
