Smart Rules for Inboxes (Minor enhancement)

Apologies if there is a way to do this, but I can’t find it…

At the moment there doesn’t seem to be a way to apply a single rule to all Inboxes – you have to choose one of them specifically for each rule, in a way you don’t have to when you choose the ‘Databases’ line.

That means that if I want to apply a label automatically to any file arriving in any of the seven inboxes, I have to create seven identical rules, which is cluttersome and harder (well, more boring) to maintain… This wouldn’t be necessary if the entry for Inboxes in the dropdown list acted in the same as ‘Databases’ – as a top level catchall.

Only minor at this stage, obviously, but thought it was worth mentioning as a possible enhancement in due course. Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion, a future release might support this (as searching in all inboxes is already possible via the toolbar).

Thanks Criss!

I just wanted to check in on this feature. This is also a major hassle for me and I was hoping it would be addressed in DT4. Is there any chance that it will be in the final release of DT4? It is very cumbersome to add a smart rule for each inbox of each database individually. However, I understand that features have to be prioritized. Thanks in advance.

If this feature has to wait, it would help if the triggers could be duplicated when a smart rule is duplicated. Right now, when I duplicate a smart rule using the drop down menu, everything is duplicated but the triggers revert to simply On Demand. If I have 5 triggers and 7 databases, I have to duplicate the smart rule 7 times for each DB Inbox and then add 5 triggers each time. Thanks!

This is done for safety reasons which is also why our smart rules only have the On Demand event trigger.
