[SOLVED] Renamed an indexed database - some content did not appear in it's folder!

I already renamed indexed folders and asked about details in the the forum.
I also read the blog entry about this.

But still, something is wrong:

I renamed a database within DT, this renaming was directly visible in the file system.
I only needed to rename the mountpoint and then the path to this folder in the folder information part (right side of DT).

So far, everything looked fine.
I even restarted DT.

And now, I created a new group and moved some content from other groups into it.
This should correspond to a new sub-folder in the indexed folder, containing those documents.

But they do not appear!
The folder did not get created and of course also none of the documents.

Within DT, the content will be shown as “indexed” and I can access it normally.
Only it does not appear in the actual folder!

I then created a new group and a new text file within it, and now the folder and the content does appear again!

So it seems, I somehow have a “gap” within the file system operations done.

How to force a re-write of this content into the folder?
Is that possible
Other ideas?

I tried “Update Indexed Items” to no avail …

I somehow solved this myself:

As I noticed that new groups will appear as new folders, I simply moved all content from the group that is missing it’s folder into the new group - which let them appear in it’s folder.

Then I deleted the old group, cleared the trash, re-created the group and moved all content that I moved to the temporary group (and folder) into the right location.

This fixed everything!

Sorry for the disturbance, maybe someone will have a similar problem and can find the solution here

There is still one point open:

I noticed the problem for a specific folder.

But there is no guarantee that this was the only folder with this problem!

I have no idea how I could verify this.

It’s unclear what you’re describing here.

  • You renamed the mountpoint where?

  • And did what with the path to this folder?

  • Why are you renaming all these things?

I renamed the mountpoint of the filesystem within macOS.

And then changed this in the “path” property of the folder within DT, as documented in the blog entry: DEVONtechnologies | How to Relocate Indexed Files

I renamed all of this, because the old name, mountpoint and path were not really right. I used a better fitting name for the database.

For example, “SOCCER” could be renamed to “SPORTS”, if the database did contain other sports than soccer. Just renaming to make it fit better.
