I use Dropbox to sync my databases with a DT 3 Pro seat on another computer and also with DTTG on an iPad.
This evening I tried to sync a new database from a Mac to Dropbox so that I could access it on the iPad and the other machine. But I keep getting an “invalid encryption key” error in the log, and the sync window tells me that it is waiting to upload this new database. Meanwhile, however, an already-synced database continues to sync just fine.
I’ve tried re-entering the (correct) encryption password, but with no luck.
Does this new database only exist on one Mac so far? And how did you create it, e.g. via File > New Database…? Because such an error should only happen if a database with the same identifier (UUID) but a different encryption key exists already in the sync store.
I ought to have been clearer. This database wasn’t newly created—I’ve had it around for a long time—but I discovered the other day that I hadn’t synced it, when I couldn’t open it from Mac #2 or from the iPad. So I tried to sync it now, for what I thought was the first time.
Probably it was synchronized in the past using a different key. In Preferences > Sync select the sync location first, then right- or control-click on the database in the right pane and choose Clean Database. After successfully cleaning it, it should be possible to upload the database.
