In all the excitement about AI, I just want to give a shout out to DT’s “legacy” search tools.
I’ve been experimenting with the Chat Assistant recently. It’s okay for some tasks, but for fundamental operations like “find this item” or “show items related to this one” the original search and See Also tools remain miles and miles ahead of it.
Thank you for the kind words! Indeed, external AI is in a complementary role to several functions in DEVONthink, including search and See Also. @cgrunenberg’s brainchild – DEVONthink’s AI undergirding so much functionality – has been refined and improved over (almost?) a quarter of a century. Take that ChatGPT!! 
@cgrunenberg is a genius developer. It’s folks like Criss that Apple should have recognized recently when it recognized “developers”, aka influencers and “content creators”, whatever value that is.

1000% agree. But then, quietly building and evolving something extraordinary over a long period of time doesn’t get recognized these days as much as flashy (and dotcom-y bubblish) bling. As they always said (Don Norman, Apple; Dieter Rams, Braun) “Good Design is Invisible” and “Form Follows Function”. Nuff said.
