I am thinking of purchasing DTP and need to know if it will be easy to sort through a pile of work automatically. For example, if I have a bank statement, a receipt, an interesting article, telehone bill all in a pile that needs to be scanned, will DTP put these documents into separate named folders or will all of them go into one folder as one document?

There are different methods for choosing where “imported” documents will be located.
Unless there’s some reason not to it’s probably best to download the app, do some testing, then ask further questions as necessary.
