Strange behaviour when creating groups in sidebar

If I right-click on a group in the sidebar and create a new group, it doesn’t get created inside the group I’ve right-clicked but, rather in the parent group. That seems very obviously like the wrong behaviour. Is everyone else seeing the same, and can anyone explain to me why it works like this? Thanks, fort.

In the Navigate sidebar, the new group is made as a sibling unless the Control-clicked group is expanded at least one level. Then a child group is made inside it.

Ah, I see. So if the Control-clicked group is empty, there’s no way to create another group inside it?

That’s correct. A sibling group will be made.

I’m sure there’s a good reason for it, but I can’t think of a use case for not creating a group inside the group that you’ve specifically clicked on. Could you explain where I’ve missed the point? Thanks.

Because people would have a group selected, create a new group, and wonder where the heck it went. The expectation of creating child groups is not universal and we had many people confused when their group didn’t appear as a sibling.

OK. Makes zero sense to me but I can live with it now that I know it’s not a bug. Thanks.

Development will see this thread and while I can’t speak for them, they may re-assess the behavior.
