Stricter recognition of duplicates - different names query

I may have imagined it, but I am sure in DT3 if I had ‘stricter recognition of duplicates’ selected and the documents had the same content but different names, then they would not show as duplicates?

In DT4, if I copy a document and rename it, it is showing as a duplicate even though one is named ABC and the other EFG.

FYI - The document(s) are MS Word. DT4.01

I could be wrong, as the help reads that it is only considering the hash of the contents (in which case they are the same).

The handling is actually the same in both versions, the name (and other metadata) do not matter.

The easiest way to think about stricter recognition of duplicates. DEVONthink considers:

  • Are these files the same size?
  • Are they the same file type?
  • Is a hash of the content the same ?

Thanks for confirming. Poor memory on my part :slightly_smiling_face:
