Switch from DT3 to DT4

I purchased the upgrade to DT4 in mid-July. After starting DT4, I couldn’t find any data and there was no way to import/convert my databases from DT3.
So I went back to DT3. Is there a clear guide somewhere on how to do this? (Otherwise, I’ve basically wasted the money I spent on the upgrade.)

Exactly how did you go about to “find” the data. Where on your computer did you store your DEVONthink databases? If you have forgotten, you can use macOS “Finder” app to search for macOS packages (looks like files in Finder) with a “dtBase2” extension.

Then in DEVONthink, Menu: File → Open Database … then select one or more of those files.

I keep all my DEVONthink databases in one location:

~/Documents/DEVONthink

That way I don’t lose them and they get backed up with my routine backup regime. I also occasionally archive using the DEVONthink archive to zip file feature. If you’ve really lost your databases, do you have backups to restore back to your computer?

Finally, make sure that you don’t have DEVONthink 3 on your computer. Remove per the instructions (repeated often here in any event).
