I am having a new problem with DVT. I have 2 Macs and 2 iPads and an iPhone all syncing. Up until about 2 weeks ago (just before the DVTTG 4 upgrade) things were working fine. Just after installing those on my iOS devices I noticed that the hard drives on both Macs were full. A little investigating showed that a whole bunch of files were being created in the private/var folder area. After looking at several things, it stopped when I turned off DVT syncing. I get a repeating message during sync of my main database that there are over 10K items to download and it repeats about every 10 minutes or so. The files look like they are DVT link IDs and are small, maybe 0.5 to 2 Mb apiece, but are continuously being created and filling the HD. A reboot clears them out, but as soon as I enable sync, that folder starts filling up again rapidly.
Thought I would check (I did a search) to see if anyone else had seen this before I submit a help desk ticket.
Thanks for reading. I’d appreciate any help.

A screenshot of this message would be useful. In addition, is a verification of the sync store successful (see contextual menu in Settings > Sync)?
Hello,
Verification was successful. Here’s a screenshot of the message.
Yes, sorry, should have mentioned that.
No worries!
However, did you read the In & Out > Sync: Dropbox section of the built-in Help and manual? If not, do so now.
Hi Jim,
OK, I have unchecked the sync box. However, it’s still doing the downloading items about every 10 minutes or so and when that screenshot I showed above is visible, then it appears that a bunch of files are being created. I don’t really use the dropbox app much. Although I didn’t even realize it was active, would it be better to just turn that off? And, it shows a progressive number as it downloads, stops at 10361 items (doesn’t seem to show 10362 of 10362 items) then disappears. About 5 minutes or so later, it starts the whole process again.
I do appreciate the help. I’ve had dropbox sync for about 2 years now and no problem until recently. DVT has become extremely useful, I can only say that there’s so much in the manual I just will prolly never understand it all. Thanks again!
Jim
No change overnight, It continues to download 10K items and then starts again a couple of minutes later. I’m currently doing a thorough verify, but not sure of the next step. Should I rebuild the index or do a clean?
Thanks for any help.
Jim
You’re welcome

The Dropbox application isn’t needed for DEVONthink to sync. I thought I covered that in the Help… indeed I did…

I think you’re misinterpreting what disabling the Dropbox app sync setting and the Activity pane is showing you. I’d hazard a guess Dropbox is stalled.
Hold the Option key and choose Help > Report Bug to start a support ticket so we can look at the logs. Thanks!
