Template Placeholders Custom Metadata problem

Hello,

I am using a template for an md annotation file for a pdf file in Devonthink 4.

Everything works fine, but not the metadata.

This is the template:

Created: %year%%month%%day%
tags: %recordTags%
Auteur: %mdauthor%
Jaartal: %mdjaartal%
Inéénzin: %mdinéénzin%

This is the result in the md annotation file:

Created: 2025_07_15
tags: %recordTags%
Auteur: %mdauthor%
Jaartal: %mdjaartal%
Inéénzin: %mdinéénzin%

What could be the reason that the %recordTags% and the custom metadata do not work.
The pdf file has a tag, and the metadata are not empty…

Could there be a work around to have those data in the annotation file?

Thanks for helping me out…
Freek

Welcome @Frekido
I’m not seeing any issue here in DEVONthink 4.0.2…

Please post a screen capture of the PDF showing the Data inspector.

Dear Bluefrog,

Thank you for helping me out!

You’re welcome!
Did you type in the placeholder text in your annotation template document?

I use this script: _Annotation___Cmd-Shift-Alt-A.templatescriptd.zip and made changes to the annotation.md that is in that package. I type the placeholder into that file…

  1. In the Finder, press Command-Shift-G and paste: ~/Library/Application Support/DEVONthink/Annotations.noindex.
  2. Put your template Markdown file in it.
  3. Go back to DEVONthink and select the document you want to comment on.
  4. Open Tools > Inspectors > Annotations & Reminders and open the popup menu for Annotations > New From Template and choose your template file.
