The focus of DT on Markdown is great. However, when including pictures, we need to use the (markdown) Textbundle format. DT can render the Textbundle docs but not edit. Edit capabilities of such docs would be very useful
This would also open up a possible special channel between DT & Bear, which seems a very attractive combo for a certain user segment.
Aside: It is possible to create a Textbundle from an MD file:
I believe the Op’s intent was for DT to have the ability to read TextBundle files, exported from other applications, as well as the ability to edit those TextBundle files in DT, and that would make the process fully roundtrip capable.
Thanks for pointing out your script, I’ve downloaded it for those rare occasions I need to export a TextBundle from DT.
This may be in a future release but also bear in mind .textbundle was not widely adopted, so there hasn’t been a lot of call for it.
This is list of developers that use TextBundles. I think there’s enough big players in there, e.g, Bear, Ulysses, Craft etc. to make it a worthwhile consideration.
I rarely use TextBundles, but that’s because I store most of my rich media assets in the cloud. With that in place, I can use Markdown to treat those assets in much the same way one would use with HTML workflows.
