Tips on automated “mail to DEVONthink”?

Even though I am primarily a Mac user, there are times when I need to run Windows and Windows-exclusive software. This means that unless I’m using virtualization software, I have no access to DEVONthink and my DT databases.

With that in mind, is there any way to send anything to DT Pro’s global inbox without it running?

Based on my searching online, the closest thing to automating the sending of material to the global inbox via email requires DT to be running, and I need a copy of DTPO. Is this correct?

Do you run Windows on the Mac? Via boot camp or a virtualization? One possibility might be to use the web server of DEVONthink Pro Office.

You could add files to ~/Library/Application Support/DEVONthink Pro 2/Inbox. DEVONthink will import the files into the global inbox the next time it’s launched.

Currently via boot camp. I have yet to invest in any virtualization software.

But to keep the web server running, that means I need to keep DEVONthink running, right?

It seems I will have to look into virtualization after all.

Correct. Pro Office runs its own web server to broadcast the databases.
