Bug #1:
If I embed a link to a Pages '09 document (such as “file://localhost/Users/daryl/Documents/Miscellaneous/Weekly Maintenance Checklist.pages”) in a DEVONthink Pro rich text page, clicking the link doesn’t work (and prevents input into that DTPro page until I switch to another page and then back to this page). This was a more general problem in pb1 that was mostly fixed with pb2 and pb3, but still seems to occur with embedded links to Pages documents.
Bug #2:
I have a bookmark page to http://njmac.blogspot.com/2008/11/move-time-machine-backups-to-new-volume.html which loads fine. If I capture this page to HTML (via right click → Capture Page), trying to view the resulting DTpro HTML page crashes DTPro. This bug has been around since pb1, and was reported with pb2. Other similar crashes were fixed, but this one remains.
Daryl, I tested both your reports on my Mac under DTPO2 pb3 and couldn’t replicate your problems.
I haven’t yet installed Pages 09, but linked successfully to a Pages 08 file.
Anyway, thanks for the link to the suggestions about moving Time Machine backups to a larger drive. I’ll need to do that one of these days. As a result of the test, I now have an HTML of that in my database.
Can anyone else replicate the problems noted by Daryl, under pb3? (Be sure to follow his instructions.)
I can confirm that Bug #1 as described above happens with me as well (Pages 09). Clicking the link does not pull up the document in Pages, and I also have to click to a different DTPO page before going back to the first one (with the link) in order to edit/type.
Pages ‘09 documents are essentially the same format as Pages’ 08 documents, but are zipped. Pages '08 documents are packages, which caused problems when people attempted to e-mail them. With Pages '09, Apple fixed that by zipping the document package.
Is it possible that DEVONthink Pro 2.0-pb3 is seeing the documents as zip files (even though they have a “.pages” extension), and trying to treat them differently as a result?
It’s not likely, but I thought it might be worth mentioning…
Weird… I wonder what might be different about my system that is causing this crash. I have two InputManagers installed: 1Password and Speed Download (both the latest versions).
I have the following Internet Plug-ins installed:
CoolirisWebKitPlugin.plugin
VerifiedDownloadPlugin.plugin
DirectorShockwave.plugin
DivXBrowserPlugin.plugin
Flash Player.plugin
Flip4Mac WMV Plugin.plugin
Flip4Mac WMV Plugin.webplugin
Google Earth Plugin.plugin
GoogleOneClickPlugin.plugin
GoogleOneClickPluginDeluxe.plugin
iPhotoPhotocast.plugin
JavaPluginCocoa.bundle
npdivx.xpt
nsIQTScriptablePlugin.xpt
Quartz Composer.webplugin
QuickTime Plugin.plugin
QuickTime Plugin.webplugin
RealPlayer Plugin.plugin
SpeedDownload Browser Plugin.plugin
Could one of these be the problem?
