Hi there,
When I try to create a basic shortcut with only the Create Item action in iOS shortcuts I cannot enter a tag in the tags field. The text I enter gets deleted immediately after typing (even before “leaving” the field). Also, if I try to insert a variable in this field, it does not show.
To be clear: all of this is before even trying to run the shortcut.
Older shortcuts that I built before still function, but editing the shortcut and unfolding the Create Item action to reveal it’s details also breaks the tags (empties the field that was filled earlier). After restoring the shortcut from a backup it will function again.
I’m running Version 3.8.13 (17499) on iOS 26.1. Problem persists after rebooting.
Could you please advise?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Best regards,
Tom
I am not seeing any issue here. Also, we don’t have any control over the Shortcuts interface.
Thank you for your reply. Do you mean to say you can’t reproduce the issue?
Any advice as what I could do to fix my problem?
Uninstalling and reinstalling also does not help by the way
Perhaps posting a screenshot of your short code could help people to help you.
Now I see what you mean (iOS 26.0). Create Object, select the tag field and start typing – the characters disappear immediately. I’m not sure how that is supposed to work, though.

Yes, exactly, albeit on iOS 26.1 in my case.
This is how it works in iOS18.7.1
Added a tag and a flag
Thank you for you reply. That’s the way it used to work for me too, however now it’s broken
During typing the text gets reset in the tags field
For others with the same issue I would like to share my workaround: create the item with the Create Item action and afterwards update the item with tags using url-scheme.
The screen capture is helpful. I don’t know that we have any control over the behavior there. I’d say is OS 26 misbehavior.
