Undo Smart Rule?

I accidentally applied a renaming smart rule twice and now have the sortable date listed twice on most files. Any way to undo it? Perhaps with another smart rule?

There would be no simple way to detect a filename has this specific condition, i.e., the date twice.

What is the result of the double application of the smart rule in an actual filename?

Just the date listed twice before the original file name.

I’ve managed to fix it using Name Mangler (which is pretty good).

Just the date listed twice before the original file name.

That isn’t entirely clear as there’s no indication if there were hyphens, underscores, spaces, etc. in the prefixing of the name.

??? Please clarify what you did here.

File name “Example” became “2019-08-28 - Example” and then “2019-08-28 - 2019-08-28 - Example” upon running the smart rule twice.

On Name Mangler I was able to remove the first 24 characters from each file name which took me back to the starting point.

On Name Mangler I was able to remove the first 24 characters from each file name which took me back to the starting point.

But how did you run Name Mangler on the files?

Oh, I exported them then re-imported them. Not ideal.

Whew!!!
That’s better than I was I feared you did.

Modify the files directly within the dtBase2 archives?

Yes. People sometimes get into the internals and make such modifications. That is never a good idea.
