Although I use to latest version of DEVONthink 4, I see the red Update button in the top right of the main screen.
You shouldn’t be running both 3 and 4 on the same account. This has been mentioned many times.
I had this as well, despite having deleted DT3 before installing. I clicked on it and it told me (correctly) that my licence had been updated in the past 5 days, so I couldn’t update it again now. The button hasn’t returned. I figured it may have been the result of clicking an Activate button in an e-mail after my new licence had already been activated. At any rate it probably won’t do any harm to click it and see what happens.
When did you buy DEVONthink 3? Within the last 12 months or earlier?
Before I started DEVONthink 4 for the first time, I zipped version 3 and then deleted that version.
I bought version 3 longer than a year ago.
I originally bought it years ago, and my licence code has remained the same at least since I upgraded to Server two years ago. But I did add a seat in December 2024, which might count; the licence was updated though the code was unchanged.
And DEVONthink 4 is registered or unregistered according to the DEVONthink > About DEVONthink panel? If it’s registered, did you buy the extension or was your old DEVONthink 3 license accepted?
I bought the extension, and thought I’d activated it already when the Update button appeared (on Saturday, I think). I haven’t seen it since, and DT4 shows as registered.
This might have been caused by a temporary server glitch not returning the latest date of licenses, this should be fixed now.
I have seen this twice since extending a few days ago. But I have just clicked the update “button” and it disappears.
