Hi! I’d like to install DT 4, but I’m not sure I understand the usage restrictions: Since DT 4 is still in beta, are there any risks I should reasonably expect? Or can I use it as usual? Thanks for your answers.
Yes and no. You should not use it in production, since it is beta. And many people seem to be using it in production (me included). As always: having a good backup strategy in place should alleviate many risks.
I wonder if the risks you run might to some extent depend on what you do with the program. I am using DT 4 in much the same way as I used DT 3. I tend to assume that new features would be more likely to have bugs, but that might be a mistaken assumption.
For me, DT has been the most reliable and trustworthy apps, for so many years, that I went right away for the beta. As expected, it works just fine and I have not seen here any major issues being discussed in the forum. I suspect it will be a short beta period and I bet no one will regret trying the beta.
We appreciate the confidence but still recommend caution. We don’t advocate using a beta in production or with mission-critical data. The choice is up to the individual but the warning signs are posted.
