Use terminal (Neo)Vim as default "open with" application for plain text?

I prefer to edit all my plain text with Neovim in the terminal. I was wondering if there was a way to have DT3 use this terminal vim as the default application when opening plain text (especially Markdown) files?

I stumbled upon this article from about 8 years ago… just wondering if there was a more modern or “native” approach.

I’m using iTerm and Neovim. I’m a JavaScript developer and would feel comfortable scripting something, if necessary.

Thanks!

DEVONthink retrieves the information about the available applications and the default application from the system. This can be changed via the Finder’s Info panel. But as far as I know it’s not possible to choose Terminal applications in the Finder, therefore a workaround like the linked one is probably still necessary.

Hi friend,

I’m looking for using vim as DEVONthink’s eiditor as well, have you had a solution for that beside the old article you mentioned?

Welcome @Uknowho

No, it is not possible to use a Terminal application in this way.
