Do some files on your Mac occasionally play hide-and-seek with you? With EasyFind, you can find them, no matter how well they’re hidden. Here are some useful tricks for working effectively with its results pane.
- Double-click a result to open it in the system default application.
- Drag and drop results to other Finder folders to move them. EasyFind supports the modifier keys, so hold Option to copy or Option-Command to make an alias where you drop the files.
- Drag and drop found media files to a rich text document, Pages, Keynote, and more. If they’re supported, they’ll be inserted.
- Need a listing of the file paths? Create a plain text document, select the desired EasyFind results and drag and drop them into the document.
- The path bar at the bottom of the search results displays the location of the selected result. Double-click any part of the path to open the Finder folder directly.
- To show or hide list columns, hold ⇧⌥⌘ then tap the first letter of the column name, e.g., T to toggle the Tags column. For Comments tap C, for Created tap R.
- Except for system protected files and ones with high-level permissions, you can move results to the system trash with ⌘⌫. But if you press ⌥⌘⌫ you can delete the file immediately with no interim stay in the trash. However, we certainly caution you to only use this when you are 100% certain you want it gone. It is irrecoverable outside your backups.
