Viewing annotations

Is the thumbnail view the only way to view annotations? It seems that’s DEVONthink ToGo only shows pages that had annotations. Is there a way to actually see the annotations like all other tools?

like all other tools

What does this mean?

It means that I’ve never seen a pdf viewer/editor, ebook reader show annotations in the manner DEVONthink ToGo does; it isn’t very helpful.

Bump!

I’ve spent a whole day trying dozens (without exaggerating) of PDF apps on the iPad, and devonthink to go provides the best and most comprehensive experience.

As far as I can tell, this particular feature is the only omission and it’s quite disappointing!!!

Being able to view a list of all the annotations + being able to search the annotations are core features of a serious PDF app. Please, will this be implemented?

Alternatively, has it been implemented since this thread was made and I couldn’t find it?

Welcome @dha and no, nothing has changed. If you poked around a bit more, you’d see PDFs are viewed and annotated via a third-party framework, not one we designed. This means feature requests have to go to them to assess. And be aware we exert no more control or sway over those decisions than anyone else.

Are you certain that the framework doesn’t already afford this functionality?

It’s already possible to filter only the pages which contain an annotation and as OP mentioned, being able to see just the annotations themselves as a list (additionally with the ability to search them) seems to be pervasive across other apps implementing a PDF viewer.

Imho this strongly suggests the possibility that the framework might already afford a way to do this. Maybe worth double-checking just in case!
