Hello there,
I am running DT Server 4.3.2 and I access DT via web browser from my Windows PC. My user has all permissions for all my databases, but it still happens, that I can not modify existing records.
It has been working on a few occasions, but I could not track down, under which circumstances.
Restarting DT or logging out/in did not make a difference.
What could be wrong?

It’s a plain text document and it’s not locked. I can edit it just fine on the server and on a Mac which has the DB synced. Also, the Web UI can toggle the lock icon, but the format options (bold, italic, …) turn the mouse pointer to the “forbidden symbol”.
Plain text doesn’t support any styling. That is what makes it “plain”.
Can you type in the document?
This would be incorrect behavior. As noted, plain text doesn’t support formatting so you should not be seeing any formatting buttons. Are you referring to Markdown?
You are totally right, it is a markdown document. I am sure I read plain text document when I answered but maybe I confused myself.
This is how the document looks like in the web ui. I can not edit anything even though I have full permissions on the database.
It looks as if it were locked, does it not? At least there’s a closed lock icon.
When I click on the lock, it turns black, but nothing changes. I still can not edit anything.
PS:
I have the databases synced between my MacMini and MacBook and it’s no problem at all editing the document on either of them.
The server I am connecting to is running on the MacMini for obvious reasons.
What I notice in your screenshot is that the selected record in the item list is highlighted in blue. In the macOS app that means the item list has focus. I don’t use the server edition, so I’m not sure if the web UI also works like that, but I would think so.
Given a similar state in the macOS app, the behaviour is the same as you describe here. Formatting commands are disabled, even if there is a selection in the text editor. Probably to prevent misclicks and unintentional changes.
Can you move focus to the editor? Have you tried clicking inside it?
Yes, of course. I would position the cursor with a mouse click, but the only thing happening is, that the line where I click gets a little lighter color. But no blinking cursor shows up and typing without cursor also does not work.
Another observation: I also can not create new documents, when I press the “+” icon. The dropdown opens, but when I select the document type, e.g. Markdown, nothing happens.Only the dropdown closes.
Would it be worth trying different browsers? I know from experience with my Mac that certain sites I visit simply will not work with certain browsers, which is why I keep three different ones installed.

Yeah alright. I’m sorry if it seemed like a dumb question 
As you say, I noticed that the current line in the editor was highlighted, which seemed weird if the file was indeed read-only.
I hope you can figure what’s going on with the DT team.
Solution: It’s a bug and will be fixed in the next update.
