The PDF here I downloaded from here
Sony A7 Manual
was doing some weird stuff I have never seen before. I could open that link in Safari, then right click and open it in Preview, give it a quick read, decide to save it to DT by saving it to the finder Inbox alias. That’s my usual workflow with manuals.
The first time I tried that, the version that got imported into DT was blank. Tried it again, same thing.
Redownloaded it, same thing.
Tried Exporting it from Preview to the Global inbox, same, blank pages all the way down. Exporting to a different location, no DT involved, also created a blank version.
Eventually Printing it to a new PDF did work.
Sony is not shy about using dumb copy protection or DRM and have shot themselves in the foot more than once in that realm although I don’t know why you would use it on a product manual. Maybe it’s not DRM and it’s a Safari or Preview problem.
Wondering if there’s any body who know’s more about PDFs who can see what might be unusual about the way the PDF is constructed.
Looks fine over here. Which macOS version do you use?
Interesting.
Ventura 13.6.7.
Generally fully patched everywhere else. I only stay one behind on MacOS due to some other software.
Why aren’t you just skimming it in the browser then clipping it via the browser extension? Are you doing some other processing in preview first?
Looks good here in Ventura when following your process.
Force of habit?
I like/know the search and size controls of Preview better than Safari.
Did you try clipping it with the browser extension?
