What is the "scripting ID" property in a record?

I noticed that DT’s scripting dictionary contains a property id for records now. The description just says, “scripting ID” – what is it and what can it be used for?

You don‘t use this on your own, it‘s used by AppleScript & DEVONthink to reference objects.

I noticed it long ago, but phrase: Optimizing or closing a database might modify this identifier made me choose UUID instead )
