I am considering to buy a new Mac with M1 Pro Max chip, but realized that the only difference between Pro and Pro Max is number GPU cores. I am not a video editor, and only scenario I can think that I will need more GPU is when I OCR in DEVONthink, but I am not sure. So, I wonder if additional GPU power makes OCR in DEVONthink faster enough justify buy M1 Max.
Any help will be appreciated.
I personally would purchase as much horsepower as I could afford but no, the extra GPUs shouldn’t make a difference.
However, Development may also weigh in on this.

I would agree with you but according to Verge’s Review 16" Pro has 16 hrs of battery life, whereas 16" Pro Max only has 10 hrs. Huge difference in battery lives makes me think hard about whether I am going to need GPU or not.
And thanks a lot for the clarification about OCR speed. I am going to buy Pro version.
Enjoy it! If it was even half as good as the original M1 Air, it would still be a fantastic machine
