Why/when use "Kind is any document" in a smart rule?

In my mind, “Kind is any document” is always true. So, having this condition as the only one in a smart rule would select all documents and basically ensure that the smart rule always runs when triggered.
But why would one use this condition in combination with other rules, like

  • Any of
    • Kind is any document
    • last modified <= 60 days

I may not see the obvious, but isn’t that the same as “any of last modified <= 60 days”?

Asking because of what I see in this thread.

This excludes (smart) groups, feeds and tags.

If you’re referring to Frank’s search, it was not “Any of”, but “All of”.
So: all records modified in the last 60 days – excluding groups, feeds and tags.

Agreed. I was off the trail anyway because “Kind is any document” doesn’t mean what I thought it meant.
