I’m noticing some funny behavior with resizing too, which I’ve been able to reproduce in Safe Mode.
My setup:
Macbook Air M1 w/ macOS 15.7.7 and DT 4.3.1 (only use internal display)
Macbook Pro M1 w/ macOS 15.7.7 and DT 4.3.1 (connected to external monitor)
My issue is when trying to make any DEVONthink window more narrow, the window resize feels like it’s moving in slow motion, and doesn’t keep up with the cursor.
Making the window wider, or taller/shorter all behaves as expected.
I’ve recorded a quick video of the behavior I described above.
note: the border outline is from an app called janky borders which I’ve ruled out as a culprit, it’s not installed on my MBA
One strange observation worth calling out, when I was initially trying to reproduce the behavior on my MBA, I could not reproduce it. I then went into Display settings and changed the resolution from ‘Default’ to one size larger, and the resize issue started happening. I then changed the resolution back to ‘Default’, however the behavior did not revert back to working normally, resizing still feels like it’s in “slow motion”. Not sure if this helps with anything.
Thanks for that video JSCO. It’s a nice demonstration of a trait of the window resizing anomalies I’ve encountered. (I’ve just realized that I didn’t mention this trait in my first post in this thread.) You can see it clearly with a utility like Moom. If I use Moom to decrease the DT window’s width, DT’s response is noticeably sluggish and the window width doesn’t contract to the dimensions Moom requests, it sort of slides slowly in the direction of the new window size and then stops before it gets there. It’s as if there’s something resisting the window resizing. Whereas, in DT prior to 4.3 and macOS prior to 26.5 – note that I didn’t ecounter these issues in earlier versions of Tahoe – the DT window just snapped immediately into the new dimensions. Every other app on my computer that I’ve tried this on also just snaps into place immediately; there’s sometime in DT right now that prevents that.
YES I am also having this issue with resizing the screen being EXTREMELY slow. +1 for support to please investigate. I have an open conversation with customer support already but no solution as of yet. I did discover that installing a fresh copy of DT 4.3 on a new macOS user account removes the issue. I’d prefer not to take the nuclear option and wipe all my settings to see if that resolves the issue on my current installation. Downgrading to 4.2.2 does NOT work.
Update: @BLUEFROG I was able to run the script provided by the support agent and that did resolve the issue after wiping my settings. And this is using an external 4k monitor as well.
One thing I noticed with the export of my old settings is that there were a ton of entries for old window sizes, presumably as part of the toggle “Retain View” in interface settings.
I took a look at the convo history: https://helpdesk.devontechnologies.com/tickets.php?id=223781, it looks like Google is doing some nonsense preventing a response from going through to my Gmail inbox. I’ll review the discussion since our last exchange and try their recommendations. Ty for the pointer. I’ll update the original post w/ my results of running the script package.
