Wish list: drag and drop + modifier key to copy item link instead of content

Hello, if I drag and drop an item1 into item2, the contents of item1 are copied into item2.
It would be nice if I could drag and drop with a modifier key to copy item1 link into item2
thank you

What exactly is “item1” and “item2”?

item = document
if I drag and drop the name of doc1 into doc2, the contents are copied, not the link.
thank you

And what kind of document?

answer: RTF

If I drag and drop test1.rtf name into test2.rtf, I would like to insert a link to test 1.rtf into test2.rtf, not its contents

thank you

Just press the Command-Option modifier keys while dragging.

thank you Christian !

The same combination can be used to replicate items or to index files/folders dropped from the Finder, by the way.

This does not work to drag and drop into external docs, like Bear Notes or Scrivener Documents. Is there a quick way to copy the DevonThink link apart from copy link in DevonThink → paste into 3rd party app ?
Vielen Dank

The modifier keys only work in DEVONthink.
