Work Life Balance & DT4 Licensing

Hi All

I’ve just taken the plunge and upgraded to DT4 Pro, taking advantage of the generous Edu pricing. Thank you.

I’d planned to have one licensed instance on my aged Mac mini M1, to which are attached lots of hard drives, primarily for hosting databases to be shared (whether Bonjour or CloudKit or another method is outwith the scope of this query, I think!) for use on my primary laptop.

So far, so simple. However.

I want to keep work and personal lives / databases separate, for good governance but also to avoid the distractions of personal life during the working day.

Aaaand, it looks like I would need to separately license both user accounts on the same laptop.

Have I grasped this correctly?

Welcome on board! One license covers any user accounts on two physical machines. So you don’t need multiple seats for a single computer, just one seat per Mac.

Per the above, I’ve tried to activate the app on my MacBook (biggibook) with a different username and get the above error message.

Copy ~/Library/Application Support/DEVONthink/Registration.plist from the registered account to the other one and then launch DEVONthink. Does this work?
