I think the title is clear. I need to discover how to attach a copy of a PDF from DT to an outgoing Gmail message. Can you help?
It’s more do-able if using Apple Mail
I use Applescript to automate my workflows
There is no magic, no arcane actions, or need for AppleScript. How would you accomplish it if the document was in the Finder?
PS: The answer is not copy and paste. The is macOS, not Windows ![]()

I would open Finder, search for the PDF title, and attach it to my Gmail message.
I opened Finder, searched for but cannot locate the PDF.
Now what?
- Are you using the web interface instead of a proper email application?
- If so, why don’t you set up Apple Mail to access your Gmail?
That being asked… stop separating the behavior in the Finder from that in DEVONthink. While it’s not a Finder replacement, there is no functional difference in the situation. Grab the PDF in your database and drag and drop it into the draft email. Boom! Done. (And yes, I just did it in the web interface as well, though I suggest you set up Apple Mail for a more robust email experience.)
Also, there is the Data > Send by Email command in DEVONthink that will open a draft email in Apple Mail (or appropriately compatible email app) with the document attachd.
Drag and drop is so 70s.![]()
LOL
Drag and drop should be the first (and most of the time only) thing a real Mac user attempts ![]()
