XMenu in my face?

Have I installed XMenu properly? When boot up is complete, the XMenu folder window opens on my desktop and I have to double click on the XMenu icon to run the program; then I close the Xmenu folder window. Then an XMenu icon appears on my desktop and stays there until I shut down. I can’t make it go away.

If this is the way the program is supposed to work, I wonder why.

Why can’t it work invisibly and unobtrusively?

Did you add XMenu from the disk image to your startup items? This would explain the "folder" popping up. Please copy the application first to your applications folder and then add this copy to your startup items.
