XMenu - no subfolders with aliases?

I’ve gone back using XMenu after a long hiatus and am wondering if anyone else if there’s a fix for an issue I’m having with the user-defined folder: Folders that are stored directly in the ~/Library/Application Support/XMenu/Custom folder show up with subfolders as expected, but those folders which are aliases do not.

I’m on a MacBook Pro using OS 13.4.1 and XMenu 1.9.11. I thought Bartender might be the issue but even with it off the issue persists.

Thank you in advance for any help!

Aliases only work if you’ve enabled Follow Links in XMenu’s preferences.
However, you should be cautious when using this option. If you have aliases to folders on networked volumes this could cause the app to respond slowly unless your devices are on a gigabit Ethernet connection. Also, very large folders, e.g., containing hundreds of subfolders, may not perform well either.

Thank you thank you thank you!
