Zoom functionality in MS Word?

Why can’t I zoom in when reviewing a MS Word file? They’re too small to see, and the entire zoom functionality is greyed out.

Word documents are displayed via Quick Look which doesn’t support zooming unfortunately. But you could switch to the alternate view, this view supports zooming but the preview is not as good as the Quick Look-based one.

And to clarify Criss’ comment about zooming the Alternate View: This is done via View > Zoom.

Thank you both.

When you say “alternate view,” I am not sure what you mean. Do you mean View>Document Display>Text Alternative? That returns a text view with no formatting.

View>Zoom when previewing a Word doc just shows six greyed out options.

That is correct. It is a rich text representation of the text of the file.

You can pinch to zoom in and out of the QuickLook view of a Word document, but they left a page mask in place so it will crop the document. That is a Microsoft issue, not a DEVONtech one.
