Maybe what we should suggest to the DT3 code magicians is to have the x-callback-url placed in the “URL” metadata rather than the extracted mailto: (as is the current behaviour).

Archiving Email with Link Back to Original

Is there a way to archive an email message from Apple Mail with a messages://... link back to the original message? Not without custom scripting, but here’s a bit of fun for you… Add message(s) to DEVONthink Message Link.scpt.zip (5.9 KB) Add this to ~/Library/Scripts/Applications/Mail and it will be available in the Script menu in Mail. Also, is there a way to edit an archived email message (to clean it up and save only what I need)? No. An email is essentially a locked file type.

PS: Not to be too pendantic, but it’s not an x-callback-url; it’s a URL scheme. A callback URL is a specific type of URL scheme and unsupported in DEVONthink.
