Can’t add a new markdown note

I’m using the latest version of DEVONthink to go on my iPhone and can’t add a new markdown note in any database. In fact, I don’t see a way to add any kind of new text note. I pressed the little plus button at the lower left, and it gives me a menu of options, none of which seem to allow text notes. I’m going to see if I can attach the screenshot I just took. This is actually rather an inopportune time in so far as I’m in the hospital trying to take medical notes.

From main screen, select the button with three dots, upper right. Then Add-> Text-> #markdown

What @gvieiii_DT suggests works for me.

I also took a look at the screen shot you provide at top. While in a DEVONthink ToGO 4 database I pressed the “+” button (with a dashed box surrounding it) bottom left corner and the app presented a different pop-up dialog box. Note how on my version there are three rows above what you show. On my screen pressing the “Text” word provides the opportunity to add any of four types of text files, including Markdown.

Weird. Perhaps re-start your iPhone to see if this issue resolves itself.

Thanks for the suggestions, I find I can go all the way back to the top and use the buttons up to the right. But even after restarting my phone, I don’t have the ability to add a mark down, or any other kind of textual document, to a selected database and group. That’s very annoying. Is that a bug? I don’t recall it working that way before. I have always been able to navigate to a database group before adding a markdown document.

My DEVONthink ToGo is 4.1.1 and I don’t see the issue on my iPhone with iOS 26.5. So I don’t know what to suggest.

Thanks for trying, but this seems like some kind of issue the DT guys are going to need to solve.

Which version do you use?

Is this a revision-proof database?

DTTG 4.1.1 is what I’m using.

It never was before, probably because I didn’t even know that was a thing. How would I tell?

It says in the Info pane but more easily, there’s a shield badge on the database’s icon…

Nope, no shield badge and I don’t see anything like that in the info pane when I select a database. I don’t know if any of this is relevant, but I can open the same (synced) database on my iPad and add textual notes just fine to any group. And something I’ve found odd since the day I upgraded to 4.x is that despite virtually all of my content being markdown notes, it classifies only new notes I take as markdown in the list. All my prior markdown notes show the ‘#’ icon but are listed as “Other” in the left navigation pane. I haven’t complained about that yet, but maybe it’s relevant here?

You’re reporting very abnormal behavior. Select Action (…) > Settings > About and tap the Contact Us link to start a support ticket.

Done. I seem to have an unfortunate talent for evincing edge cases.

Chiming in. Have you tried to scroll the menu? On small devices, iOS only shows a part of the menu and lets you scroll up and down for the remaining commands.

I confess it never occurred to me that the menu would scroll. But I just tried and found that it does. Problem solved!

I don’t have your ticket handy. What model of iPhone are you using?

It’s actually quite new, my wife and I just upgraded to the iPhone 17 Pro Max models in January. I’m surprised to hear it described as having a small screen. It seems quite large to me.

You may have enabled one or more options in Accessibility > Display & Text Size. As a result, most of the interface is shown “zoomed in”, and screenshots can look similar to those taken on a much smaller device with default text settings.

Understandable, if there are no visual cues provided. Apple’s UX is getting worse and worse, IMO.
