No, a fresh install on the same iOS device—I was migrating from DTG 2. I can’t say for certain, but I don’t think I’ve ever been able to capture clutter-free web archives using DTG 3.

So I’ve been corresponding with the DEVONthink support team and managed to resolve these issues, but just for the record I wanted to shared what I’ve learned here.
First of all, DEVONthink To Go version 3.1 (17077) appears to have fixed the crasher I was encountering earlier.
The issue with clutter-free web archives was a bit trickier. It turned out to be the result of using 1.1.1.1 for Families, which was (and still is) categorizing markdownifier.devontechnologies.com as a phishing domain. In other words, I was unable to capture clutter-free archives because DNS resolution of markdownifier.devontechnologies.com failed. You can check this for yourself as follows:

Thankfully, I was able to work around this simply by switching my primary DNS server from 1.1.1.2 to 1.1.1.1:

So this means that capturing a clutter free MD file relies on an external server? I find that a bit irritating for 1 - technological (we’ve seen just what kind of b problems this may cause) and 2 - privacy reasons.
Wouldn’t it be easier to use a JavaScript library to perform the conversion locally?
As far as I can tell, an external server is required for capturing clutter-free web archives, clutter-free Markdown files, and clutter-free formatted notes. Like you, I’m not sure why this needs to be done remotely, though it didn’t strike me as unreasonable because you’re going to need an Internet connection to capture those files anyway. Still, I do agree that your concerns are valid.
We have build this as an online service as all the technologies for it already existed as web technologies. It also enables us to update that component independently from the apps themselves. Regarding privacy concerns: the server is a process-and-forget installation that doesn’t save anything but just delivers the results and then moves on.

Hi - I have the same issue… however, I’m not as technically minded as the OP! Do I just need to wait a bit for this to be resolved or any step by step for changing the DNS on an iPhone? It happens when using my mobile connection. Funny thing is that it initially happened on one site I captured and then 2 mins later it had sorted itself. The other ones I captured were a mix of success and failures, so unsure why that happened. Happy to help resolve further if you want to point me at what you need! Thanks
I wouldn’t go to any extraordinary lengths to do things like change DNS. Despite what it seems, connections to the Internet, especially over WiFi are notoriously fiddly. If you consider how much traffic there actually is and how many hops it is to a server - and there are hops back to you then back to the servers, etc. - it’s sometimes amazing anything gets done at all!

on a related topic, the clutter free approach seems somewhat adhoc - for example when clipping forum articles like:
I only get one of the posts - it is complete, but the choice seems somewhat random (not the first or last post) and I’m clearly after clipping the whole thread that appears in the browser… is that expected behaviour?
