Can't find option to scan with iPhone

Preamble:
I read the latest extra “using an iPhone as a mac scanner” dated 16 Jul 2024
DevonThink Pro 3.9.6, Ventura latest update
My iPhone and Mac are on the same WiFi, logged into the same apple account, and bluetooth is on
Scanning with my iPhone into Mac OS Apple Notes works fine, suggesting that the Mac-iPhone connection works fine.

My problem:
in DevonThink Pro, I am unable to find any reference to scan with iPhone.

Below is the context menu of the global inbox. No reference to import→ scan with iPhone, and there is no reference to scan with iPhone anywhere in the DevonThink Pro menu.

thanks in advance for your time and help

now I understand. So you need an indexed folder in DevonThink ?

No, that’s not required. The Global Inbox’s alias should already be in the Finder window’s sidebar. It automatically imports files put into it when DEVONthink launches or is running.

I’m sorry: could you give me a reference about Global Inbox in Finder. thank you

It’s covered in the Menus > The Application Menu > Add-Ons section of the built-in Help and manual as well as…

… and many other places over the years.

thanks very much !

No problem.

I don’t use Finder. Would it work in Forklift ? Pathfinder? I am too chicken to try, to avoid a mega bungle. thank you

May I ask why you aren’t using the Finder?

Forklift… Are you using FTP, SFTP, etc. often?

And there are step-by-step instructions in the blog post on how to manually add the alias to the Inbox folder.

Forklift

many more functions (copy path URL and many more), multi-pane. Easy to program with Alfred and Keyboard Maestro

no, just google drive from time to time

thanks again

I cannot speak for Forklift as I have never used it, but (at least in the past) one was able to add the DT Inbox alias to Pathfinder. I used it many years ago because I thought the concept was a good one. But it turned out to be nothing but a headache. After some release update–dont remember when, definitely years ago–Pathfinder became junk. It constantly hang and froze to the point I couldn’t use it anymore. Uninstalled it and went back to old school Finder, and never looked back. Good luck.
