DEVONthink To Go 4 License question

Sorry but I have a license question.

I understand that there is only one common license for every platform.

I have in my account my DT 4 Mac Licence and was only valid until end of June.

Now updating to DTTG 4, it says because I have bought it in 2024, I will have my licence activated until 2026.

But in my account it’s not reflected, it only shows that my DT has to be renewed.

Could you please help / explain?

(Moved to a new topic. BLUEFROG)

DEVONthink To Go 3 one time purchases after 2024 are valid for DEVONthink To Go 4 until the end of 2026. This does not apply to Mac licenses.

I installed DTTG 4 on my iPhone, logged into my DT account within the app, and tried to activate one of my mobile seats (from,my Pro subscription). The app crashed. My DT web account showed the device as consuming a mobile seat, but DTTG 4 still showed as unlicensed.

I deleted the app, reinstalled, and tried again. The same thing happened, and now two mobile seats are shown as in use.

I also tried to “restore purchases” from my one-time purchase of DTTG 3 (within the free upgrade window), but that did nothing.

This is unfortunate. Simply killing and relaunching the app doesn’t help? Anyway, a version 4.0.1 is under way soon.

This should not be your first reaction, with any app. it should be a last resort option.

I’ll hang tight for 4.0.1, and then just clear the unused mobile seats from my account when they become eligible.

I was using the TestFlight beta for a while, and am quite pleased with the new features and interface.

Congrats on this release. The new licensing model is very generous.

Thank you for the nice feedback!
Is there any specific new feature you are excited about?

Congrats on this release. The new licensing model is very generous.

And thanks again

I had the same confusion about the licensing. I think the confusion is that I saw the checkmark next to DEVONthink Pro, which I interpreted to mean an acknowledgement that I had an active license. However, I discovered you need to tap that checkmark to then activate the license.

Yep, I hit the checkbox, and that’s when the app hard crashed, then consumed a mobile seat and was not licensed when I re-launched it (after hard killing it, rebooting phone, etc.).

Nothing super specific at this point, just “it’s easier and more intuitive to use, and is way faster, looks modern”.

I’m interesting in seeing if I will leverage the AI stuff while mobile. I use tailscale and have some local LLM servers, so I hope that will work well.

Well, the app should not crash in the first place!

For the record, I’m having the same experience. That’s what brought me to the forum today.

Did you also use the TestFlight beta?

I did not use the beta for DTTG. I did use the beta for DTP and registered as soon as I was able.

After relaunching the app, does it help to visit Settings > License > License and pull down to force a refresh?

No. In fact, it refers me to the license page immediately (which is slightly irritating at the moment).

I went to Setting > License > License and pulled to refresh. It spun for a second, but the result was the same.

It didn’t consume an additional mobile seat, though.

The same happened to me today. Are we supposed to wait for 4.0.1 or is there any chance we could get the app licensed in a smoother way?

Hmm. Then maybe waiting for 4.0.1, due soon, might be in order.

This exact thing happened to me this morning and, after I had a small panic attack, I went over to TestFlight and redownloaded the beta. Will be waiting for the fix in 4.0.1!
