You could still continue to use DEVONthink 4 afterwards but you wouldn’t receive updates anymore. In the App Store this isn’t possible unfortunately, therefore either a subscription or an extension of the Mac license would be required to continue to use DEVONthink To Go 4.

In brief, as far as I am concerned, my DTTG 3 is running under a subsciption which is until 14 september 2026.
On the Mac I have a DT3 license for 2 seats whth a code (no date). On my account, there is an option to upgrade and it states «Please note that purchasing an upgrade, e.g., to a higher edition, will trade your existing license for the discount and your old license will be deactivated in three months time. The upgrade from DEVONthink 3 to DEVONthink 4 is, technically, only an extension of your existing license and so the license will, of course, neither be traded in nor will its license code change.»

Now I’d like to update to DTTG 4 and DT4 for Mac. Which one should I upgrade first and what happen to the remaining 10 month for the DTTG 3 subscription ?
When you upgrade DEVONthink 3 to 4, same edition, the license code stays the same.
DEVONthink To Go 4 should, like laid out in the Upgrader’s Guide, continue to work. We’d recommend canceling it and when it finally runs out, switch over to the Mac license.
Please note that DEVONthink To Go is only included in DEVONthink Pro and Server, not Standard.
