What is your use case for DT?
I have trialed DT4 almost since the start. About 4 months ago I decided its performance was solid enough to switch to it full-time for production work; the increment in capability over DT3 was so large it was well worth it. [That said - you may wish to turn off DT4 AI’s ability to edit existing production documents until the beta is over - I only use it to create documents, not to alter current documents or metadata.] Its generative AI capabilities in particular have been every bit as transformative to my workflow as the day I first used a word processor or the day I switched to paperless document storage.
Lots of generative AI apps help with writing - that’s not what I am focused on. Rather DT4 has no competitor either in the cloud or on the desktop with regard to its ability to summarize, analyze, chronicle, or critique existing documents or document sets of any size. And it can do so with page links galore to confirm the source of all information. It will quickly become an essential tool in the toolbox for anyone who regularly reviews, analyzes, references, or crtiques documents - including academics, scientists, attorneys, topic experts in legal settings, engineers, and anyone else who does similar detailed document analysis.
Some of this works right out of the box. The best performing document analysis specific to a particular industry works best if you invest additional time scripting your AI queries - but the time spent is well worth it and no doubt you will get lots of help on the Forum in writing such scripts.

You could try reducing your resolution by one step.
I understand that a license is for a year and in that year you get all updates. When your license expires, does that mean it will no longer receive even bug-fix-only updates?
Regarding the updates, they all include new and improved features, not just fixes. Hotfixes are incredibly rare just as any showstopping bugs are. (I can recall two in almost 13 years.) Also, we anticipate more frequent updates throughout the year.
And when is the final public version (non-beta) expected to be out?
We don’t comment on development timeframes but I’d expect a few months. Not a quote, but an estimate.

I shall buy the release version as soon as possible (don’t want to try the beta: effectively ‘production’ - but good luck with that).
Am I correct in thinking that there’s no point or need to extend here, please?

Jim, just sent my payment and downloaded v4 - but I did get the Server version - how do I get the right one?

Minor bug FYI -
I updated my license and activated it succesfullly on my computer.
My online account reflects updates until 1 year from now.
But the splash screen when it starts up says updates are until 4/2/25 - rather than 4/2/26 which would be correct.

What are you wondering about extending?
There is only one download, no different than DEVONthink 3. The edition is tied to the license.
What settings specifically?
Surely cosmetic, nothing more.

Jim, thanks: should I extend (beyond 2025-04-03) when I’ll be upgrading to 4 Pro?
fonts used in listings, label colors, names, how they are applied (classic vs modern), and all else.
But, it ocurred to me, I didn’t upgrade from within 3.9.9
