I created a 1-level deep hierarchy where nested IMAP mail folders are shown on top level in DT 4.0.1.
test1
\. test2
becomes
test2
is shown twice: nested and on toplevel. Is there anything I can do about that? With just one folder that’s not a problem, but with 10 subfolders it’s not that “helpful” and clutters the import dialog.
I checked on different accounts including Gmail. It’s all the same.
I have confirmed the behavior here. Development will have to investigate this.
The next maintenance release will fix this.

@cgrunenberg Unfortunately, the bug is still present in 4.0.2
I’m running dovecot 2.4.x
Rebooted?
Yes. The problem is still visible.
And what OS?
15.6.1 (24G90)
What kind of email account is it, e.g., Gmail?
… on a Debian Server. No local SMTP server instead I use the SMTP server from my external mailbox.
What do you get when you run this AppleScript snippet in Script Editor, logically replacing the account with the name of your account…
tell application "Mail"
mailboxes of account "iCloud"
end tell
SMTP is not relevant in this context, since it is used to send mail.
Sure, but I (try to) expect the unexpected when it comes to software.
The Mail.app was not that “happy” when I set up the local mailserver configuration and complained about the missing SMTP server.
@BLUEFROG I tried the same on 4.1 Europa and the duplicate entries can still be found. Laptop was restarted as requested before. Anything else I can provide to help you identifying the issue?
imap dovecot

imap gmail
imap gmail on my wife’s macbook MacOS 15 as well
