Hi all, I am using DTTG 4 since a week or so on my iPad Pro M1 with 128GB. My databases sizes are 37GB in total, the largest one is about 16GB and i have 23GB RAM left on my ipad. Working with DTTG is terrible slow, the UI is often not responding and sometimes I have glitches when the ui is changing. Sync is over webdav with my webhoster. On my Mac I am using Devonthink Pro 4. All on latest version.
Anything i can do? Is the largest database with 16GB too large?
It’s possible that updating of the smart group results and/or item counts causes the delays. How many smart groups are usually visible at the same time? And what kind of conditions do you use?
I have reviewed some of the smart groups and it looks like the filter criteria are deleted. I assume that in this case the filter is selecting everything. Could this be the case?
Unfortunately I am not on my Mac actually. But I can have a look tonight if the smart groups are still correct on the Mac
I assume they will be. If so, make a nominal change to mark the smart group as modified. This could even be reselecting an option. Then sync it with DEVONthink To Go and see if the smart group behaves again on mobile.
Are the WebDAV sync store and these smart groups very old? Older versions of DEVONthink 3 didn’t synchronize the information that is required by DEVONthink To Go 4. But usually it’s sufficient to change e.g. the name or any other attribute of smart groups to synchronize them so that DEVONthink To Go 4 has full access to the smart groups’ conditions. A simple AppleScript could do this too.
I have this same issue, reported in my last bug report to Jim. SmartGroups do not work in DTTG 4 and don’t sync with DT 4.
Multi-word tags don’t work in SmartGroups. Known by Jim and will be solved in the next updates.
Non-multi-word tags at least in the form of .wordWord (like .noOcr) still don’t work in DTTG. In this case, I don’t know if that is a multi-word or a single-word tag.
Sync of modified SmartGroups to and from DTTG doesn’t work. New created ones in DT don’t as well. And this ends in not being able to add SmartGroups in DTTG, because I’ve not found how to create one. Perhaps it is very easy, but I cannot find the way to create one.
The WebDAV sync store has been in use for a couple of weeks and was re-created running DT 4.1.1.
Here (also with WebDAV), some smart groups sync ok, others don’t. One issue I saw and described in another thread is “name matches…” condition, which does not work (or not in the same way) as on DT. Changing that to “name contains” fixes that issue and is synced both ways.
Also, I created a new smart group with a slightly more complicated condition (name contains... and tag is … (with a single-word tag)). That one was synchronized to the iPad correctly.
So, some more in-depth investigation would be good, I think. Perhaps @rfog could post sample smart groups that didn’t get sync’ed?
What does work in DTTG, is to copy a smart group and then modify it. But that requires that you have at least on smart group in DTTG…
Good, so we can concentrate on local smart groups. Perhaps @rfog could make a copy of that first sample group and remove the tags conditions from it – does that sync? If yes, does it sync if you add a condition like tags is tag without a leaving dot for the tag?
And yes, local ones are syncing. Another thing is the local one with the tag .noOcr still shows PDFs with 0 words and .noOcr tag. Is this a more than one word tag?
Anyway, still no option to create a global SmartGroup or recover default accidentally deleted ones.
I was mistaken, or did the tests before 4.0.2, but they now sync without issue. Other thing is if they work as expected when there is a tag in the filter conditions.
