Would be great if Smart Group options Exclude Subgroups and Highlight Occurences could be set via AppleScript.
Or, going further: Please make every option that’s available in the Smart Group editor also available through scripting.

Just curious but what exactly do you try to script? It’s rather unusual to create smart groups that way.
I create almost all Smart Groups with Script: Create or change smart group(s).
This way I can create a bunch of Smart Groups by simply selecting some groups, providing a query and am done. The result is a Smart Group in each selected group. It‘s very comfortable.
However if I also want to highlight occurrences I currently have to open each created Smart Group via the contextual menu and click the checkbox which gets quite cumbersome.
The next release will extend the AppleScript support.
