To install the new version 4, I deleted the old DEVONthink 3 app, emptied the trash, rebooted and installed version 4.
All seems OK, except that the upgrade guide page says:
“Your global inbox (Inbox.dtBase2) and the folder containing sync data (Cloudy) will be moved to ~/Library/Application Support/DEVONthink
and at their original location replaced by aliases.”
This has “sort of” happened. The old folder (“original location” in the guide - /Users/avatar/Library/Application Support/DEVONthink 3
) is still there, and does indeed contain some aliases to new versions in the new location (/Users/avatar/Library/Application Support/DEVONthink
). (Thankfully that old folder also contains my old templates, which I assume I can re-use.)
The old folder contains a subfolder named “Abbyy”, which itself contains an application file named “DTOCRHelper”, being 1.51GB in size.
The new folder also contains this “Abbyy” folder, containing this “DTOCRHelper” application file, also 1.51GB in size.
Surely I don’t need both of these? Can I simply delete the old one from the old location? It takes up a fair amount of space. (I did a search on this, but the most relevant post was concerned with version 3.)
In fact, can I pick through the old folder (/Users/avatar/Library/Application Support/DEVONthink 3), take what I want from it (like the templates) and then delete it?
Thanks.
