I often find myself navigating between groups and not seeing the documents I expect, simply because something is still entered in the search field.
At the moment, I have to use the mouse / trackpad to go and clear the search field manually.
Q1: Is there a keyboard shortcut that lets me quickly clear the search results?
Q2: I’ve also come across mentions of “detachable” panes in this forum, but I haven’t been able to find them in the app. Have I misunderstood something? unfortunately, I don’t have the links to the posts now.
For the first question, I think I know what you mean as I’ve experienced that as well. Testing it to confirm, it looks like as you search and then navigate to other groups it will change the search with a scoping reference. It appears that the search field is still active in this case and although I select a group or something with the mouse, I can still type command-A, Delete, Esc and that will clear the search. If that’s what you want then you could create a simple Keyboard Maestro macro to do that. Although you’d want to be careful when you invoke such a macro as you don’t want to delete something by mistake.
