I suspect I see the same problem. iPhone 7 iOS 15.7.3 DEVONthink ToGo 3.6.4.
With a PDF in display of Safari, Box-Arrow-Up to show DEVONthink, press … nothing. Slight blink. With a non-pdf web page, seems to work (but did not test exhaustively).

16.2, DTTG 3.6.3:
The share sheet has an “Option” select box at the top where I can select Automatically or PDF. With the latter, safari clips ok here.
Not for me on iPadOS 15.7.2
So it seems to vary …
Could you try to share a regular website and use the option “as PDF”?
Just to compare the behavior, as this also does not work for me.
WFM. But since iOS 16.x, there’s this options thingy in the share sheet before DTTG’s sheet appears, and I select the document type there.
Sorry if that’s your intepretation but we see them as data points to how broad or narrow an issue may be, even if a small sample.
No, this is option is there since iOS 11 or so.
I always use it to switch between URL, PDF or WebArchive depending on my needs.
Did you try what I asked for above?
Would be interesting to see if you can share a regular URL ( a website, not a PDF file) as PDF to DTTG …
I understand
So I hope that now about 4 data points about this or very similar problems initiate something.
Thanks
I have same “options” but makes no difference picking either.
That’s what “WFM” was referring to. HTML document, options PDF, got a PDF in DTTG
Thanks.
But I have no idea what “WFM” could stand for
EDIT: Works For Me … said Google
I have spoken with the Scanner Pro developers and due to changes in iOS16 they are no longer supporting the 3rd party application integration that DTTG uses. The best option would be to use the “Save to Files” option and save in the DEVONthink folder.
Uhhh.
That is horrible news!
That means doubling all files, not loosing control over them and remembering to delete in time.
Also, when scanning many websites, it will be difficult to manage this …
But why have other Apps, even very old Apps, not this problem?
They can be shared PDFs to without any problem - that means, there IS a compatible and supported way to do this sharing!
AFAIK, DTTG uses a third-party framework instead of Apple’s notoriously buggy PDFKit. No idea if that’s related or not.
Now, that seems to be the explanation, from what @aedwards wrote …
And explains why other and old Apps have no problem.
The question is, wether this third-party framework is still needed and for what effect exactly - the basic Apple method seems to work better from what I can see.
Or, this third-partly frameworks needs to be fixed
A PDF framework is about more than just sharing. And if you read all the threads about problems with PDFKit on macOS with annotations, broken text layers etc, you’ll perhaps see a reason to use something else.
And nobody is as unresponsive as Apple in fixing bugs in their own software. So, a third-party product might be a better choice in that respect as well.
I never read or heared about that - but I believe, what you wrote.
Anyway, such a framework should finally work - and be fixed if there is need for this.
Either the developer / community can and will handle this, or such a framework cannot be used anymore!
This bug is in DTTG for about a year, from what I can remember.
We are in contact with Readdle and as iOS 16 has killed their integration we are looking for a new way to interact directly. Apart from that, there’s always the file provider extension that DEVONthink To Go provides and that lets you save PDFs directly from Scanner Pro and other apps to DEVONthink To Go.
As for the Clip to DEVONthink extension becoming unreliable: With version 3.6.2 we have updated it so that it directly saves to the Core Data data store. This seems to be more reliable for some but also lead to timeouts for others when the data store is busy, e.g., when the main app runs a background sync or similar.
Many thanks!
I don’t really get the difference between “file provider extension” and “clip to DTTG”…
Do you mean sharing from the Files App?
Yes, that works but does not solve the problem
I rarely share PDFs from Apps to DTTG - mostly, I have a PDF open in Safari that I want to store in DTTG.
And that does not work
It only dims the screen …
