I’ve noticed that DT4 will intermittently prompt me for my license info upon boot, and when I’ve entered my licensing info, it says that it’s for DT3 and that I’ll need a new license. My license doesn’t expire until October.
This is intermittent. Sometimes I’ll quit and reload and it won’t happen. I haven’t noticed a clear pattern. Has anyone seen something similar?
Christian, I’ve had similar problems with licenses this weekend. I’ve been trying several Mac mini M4s and finally settled on a Mac Studio M4 Max, but I had such a mess of licenses that in the end I went to the website last week and deleted them all to start from scratch with my final 4 Macs.
Always with DT 4 Beta 1, days ago I activated the Mac Studio. In the license window, I clicked the button to go to the website and from there I activated the Studio. But DT froze after pressing the activate button. Tired of waiting, I killed the process and when I restarted (and reopened all the databases), the machine was activated. This just happened to me this morning with the Mac mini M2 Pro at work, and as this has been one hour ago or so, I’m going to send the bug report in case it helps solve the real problem.
I have Edge Chrome as my default browser, and initially I attributed the problem to the activation not being done from Safari, but I suspect it has nothing to do with it. I will send the report to your email as well.
Thank you! We could finally reproduce and fix this issue, a new beta will be available later this week. In the meantime either avoid to quit DEVONthink 4 or use DEVONthink 3 instead.
I also got this error for the first time today, and have been running the beta since a day or two after it came out. I am running MacOS betas, also, which seems likely to be related.
@cgrunenberg - Glad to hear a fix is incoming. For me, quitting and restarting did not help, nor did rebooting. I downloaded DT4b1 again, and installed it over the same installed version, and for now that seems to be working.
I will try to avoid quitting. By the way I found another way to maybe avoid this problem (which is likely not recommended. I didn’t open DT4 and instead I went straight to my account on the webpage and clicked to activate the license. Then DT4 opens and the program starts as expected. This worked this morning after having license problems when opening DT4). Looking forward to the next beta
